Is Your Boss Taking All Your Time?

It is important for an employer and an employee to have a good relationship. You need to be able to talk to your boss about important things openly and your boss also needs to be able to trust you. While this kind of relationship is recommended, not every company is able to create this kind of setup. In some, the boss is so terrifying that the employees are too scared to open up. Some of the bosses are even cruel and requires tasks that are almost impossible to carry out within the time limit they have set even with the use of printers that are portable.

If you want to be close to your boss, it is important that you prove your worth first. That is of course done by improving in the tasks that you are given. Your improvement must be so good that your employer will want to know more about your skills.

During that time, you may be given more tasks by your employer to put you in line for promotion. While that may be an honor, think of all the extra hours that you will have to put in during the trial period. You cannot be lenient on the tasks that are given to you because they can make or break your career and relation with your boss. You need to do more than your best for the tasks to be completed in a short period of time without compromising the quality.

Things like that cannot be completed without using printers that are portable. If you have the right tools for the job, all you need to do is use them wisely. Multitasking is common for people who have lots of things to do; if you practice this, you will be able to make better utilization of your time.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Jobs: What Does an Occupational Therapist Do?

I’m an occupational therapist assistant. And generally, whenever I tell someone that, I get a sort of blank look. Some will smile and make a general comment: “Oh, that’s nice.” Others are more honest about this gap in their knowledge and will actually ask me what an occupational therapist is. I guess I can understand their confusion; it can be sort of a blurry domain. Somewhere in between physical therapists and psychologists, between rehabilitation and social work and nursing, this versatile field uses principles from many disciplines to help people with disabilities in every aspect of life, helping them to live more independent, more satisfying lives.

It’s a rough distinction, but occupational therapy assistant jobs can mostly be broken down into two basic areas of practice: physical health and mental health. Within both, there are countless possible specializations. In general, occupational therapy assistant jobs that specialize in an aspect of physical health help patients with disabilities or injuries to have as much physical autonomy as possible. Some occupational therapists, for example, work with patients who have permanent disabilities, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy. To help them be as independent and autonomous as possible, an occupational therapist would help them to learn to effectively use equipment to aid their movement, from wheelchairs to eating and dressing aids.

Sometimes they even design special equipment to fit the special needs of their patients. For example, they might help them acquire advanced computer equipment to help them communicate more easily. Another example of a physical specialization is pediatrics. In this branch, an occupational therapist focuses on the “occupation” of children—namely, school. They help children who have developmental disorders, who have difficulties with motor skills, or sometimes who have pronounced emotional or behavioral issues. They also might work with children who have severe injuries or chronic illnesses. Occupational therapists who choose to specialize in pediatrics generally focus on the classroom environment, making sure to see that the physical and emotional environment is well-suited to the needs of the child.

Others in the area of physical health might specialize in geriatrics and home health. In general, they work with the elderly who have debilitating conditions such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s, or even emotional trauma such as depression. Again, the goal is autonomy; occupational therapists try to help the elderly live as independently as possible, with the ultimate goal of being able to live independently and safely in their own home. Occupational therapy assistant jobs that specialize in an aspect of mental health help patients with mental disabilities or psychological or emotional trauma to regain, as much as possible, the ability to lead ordinary lives.

They help them learn to care for themselves in basic ways: to function well in the community (to be able to go to the grocery store, to the bank, etc.), to function well in the work place, to manage medications, to have learn good social skills. The area of mental health is incredibly diverse. It might focus on mental trauma: for example, some might work with clients with short-term memory loss. It might focus on working with people with mood disorders, such as anxiety or depression.

It might also focus on rehabilitation of clients who deal with addictive behaviors like alcoholism or drug abuse. Of course, whatever the specialization of an occupational therapist, the ultimate goal is to help the client function in their “occupation,” whether that refers to the workplace, to school, or just to living a meaningful daily life. In the workplace, they help their clients find employment, as well as assess their workplace and meet with employers to ensure that the environment is one in which their client can succeed. That’s what I generally tell people, in any case, to help them understa
